We made our third 2-night trip to the cabin within a 3-week span! This time driven mainly by meeting with a CenturyLink (DSL) tech about laying a data wire, possibly using the existing trench, which Imperial Landscaping had left partly open (shallow) the previous Saturday when they (without wasting any time) had inspected the power wire for damage (none seen, whew), properly "shaded" it with gravel, and mostly filled the trench.
Unfortunately DSL was a complete fiasco. We couldn't get any technical info from the company ahead of time, not even to learn that the pedestal was on the wrong end of the property, 200' from the open trench; would require its own expensive burial, to get low speed (like 10 Mbps) service for $55/month; and the company was terrible to deal with. Long story short, we are going with Starlink Mini+Roam instead.
