The trail to the top must have been just a worn footpath with few cairns to mark the way. Thanks to post-fire erosion it was impossible to follow even though I could see the true summit in the distance. I ended up just traversing around the hillside, eventually heading up a gully -- too soon as it turned out -- and scrambling my way tediously and carefully up and through some massive granite outcrops. Fortunately my injured left arm from 4.5 months ago performed OK and didn't mind too much.
