On a lovely late summer day I went for a "little" (very long) hike for the first time that I'd considered for decades: Completely around Lumpy Ridge, north of Estes Park. I chose clockwise for my loop. It took nearly 8 hours (starting at 8:08), 12 miles, and about 2400' of vertical gain. I felt pretty good for most of it, except some horrible "hypoxemia" slowed me down on the climb south to Gem Lake, where 2.8 mi and 1000' up took me nearly 2 hours and felt lousy.

This was also the day that I met Dan Gopstein from NJ, with his SO Anna Miskin, starting out on a technical climb at Sundance. Coming directly from sea level the previous day, despite being young and fit they had a rough time of it and didn't get back to the trailhead until 10:30 pm!
