After some discussion we decided to be adventurous and continue a long way downhill cross-country to Thunder Lake and the trail back from there, making a loop. At first it was easy walking and route-finding with only a few bushwhacking exceptions. This was southeast across Wild Basin to Meadow and St Vrain Mountains.
