Wearing cleats not snowshoes, I found it tough at times going uphill, mostly between Dream and Emerald where the snow felt more like mud than sand. Plowing back down though, it was easier to shortcut than follow some of the switchbacks. Not apparent from this photo is how I was swimming shoulder-deep in the lower part!
