I dragged out of bed, dressed warm, and went for a longer walk than I expected to take this digital zoom of the moon just entering a brief (18 minute) totality at 5:11 am MDT, low in the southwest. At first, seeing it was getting light, I noticed Jupiter but no moon, then realized a lunar eclipse starting close to sunrise would put the moon low down in the west... Behind trees! I was lucky to get this picture before walking back to the cabin, surprising a dusky grouse on the gravel road, and turning back in for more sleep.
