Cathie had a (literally) brilliant idea, why not install a lightbulb to make it easier to work in the attic? (Normally done with a headlamp.) It was relatively easy to accomplish by making the new junction box for the bathroom circuit (needed to extend an existing wire to the new breaker panel) into a switch box. (Later I stapled that dangling wire up out of the way.)
