After a long but relatively easy drive south from Fort Collins with just a few stops, I arrived here for a hike around Paint Mines Interpretive Park about 27 miles NE of Colorado Springs on a lovely fall day. The area was mostly small and bland compared with, say, Artist Palette at Death Valley, but still fun, free, and well-engineered. Most of the perimeter hike was just on breezy prairie/steppe landscape, not in badlands.
