After only about 50 minutes I reached a precious bit of shade, as high as I could go up the steep, loose higher hillside below cliffs. I got really hot and had to cool down! This was the view out Ribbon Canyon across the main channel to the Jackass Bench, a hikeable slope just upstream of Hole in the Rock.
