After about six hours of commuting later I finally found myself in the Utah desert east of Cisco (northeast of Moab with the La Sals in sight to the south), with my kayak on the roof of the car. I enjoyed a few hours of rock and railroad-scrap-metal hunting around the transcontinental railway line before camping for the night on BLM land in sight and sound of the tracks.
