The next afternoon I headed through Fairplay up the hill to Alma, then toward Kite Lake with a turnoff to the USFS Windy Ridge bristlecone pine area on the eastern flank of Mt Bross. A very rough drive the last 3.5 mi with some creek crossings and nearly 4WD before the 11700' parking lot.
