This was an operational example of, "carpe diem"! I was dressed warmly, but everything eventually got soggy, from the inside of my daypack to my underwear, especially after I gave up on walking in the mud holding an umbrella (in one hand, and a bucket in the other). I walked in water shoes, suitable for the conditions, but often caked with mud and having to kick rocks out from under my soles.
