So I parked in a large off-field lot surrounded by trees, frantically gathered everything I needed from the camper van, walked back down 0.2 mi through a flightline gate knowing I was technically illegal, but a staffer had suggested that with the day's crowd -- dozens of little airplanes + jets already parked, and dozens of people milling around -- that no one would care, and she was right. I introduced myself to this family who'd flown in from OKC that morning, ensured they didn't mind me parking myself on the other side of their aircraft, and 20 minutes before first contact, I had the projection telescope set up ready to go!
