I weighed my regular daypack and was surprised to find it was only about 20-21 lb loaded with food and water. But getting older and slower, with more neck and back strain, I found about 2.5 lb, over 10%, I could safely ditch because I didn't use it very often, or really was excess weight (in containers not contents). Ultimately I replaced the binoculars with a monocular, stopped carrying a heavy but not great nylon jacket, etc.
