The first outer band winds hit at 2:20 pm Tuesday afternoon, with heavy rain a few minutes later. That didn't last long, then I knew I had a few hours, so what the heck, I'm going for a hike! Prepared for rain. Was back well before the next band arrived much later.
But first I cut through the far-back woods and had an unfortunate and stupid encounter with losing my balance ducking through a palmetto palm, which drew blood.
