So first Southwest sent us a warning, then while I was out shopping, they canceled the flight! (Took this screenshot the next day.) I thought they weren't going to do that, but later learned that TPA decided Monday afternoon to close the airport entirely on Tuesday morning, before our departure time, to batten the hatches for the storm's arrival that night.
Cathie, back at Mom's house, quickly followed this link and scored us reservations for early Thursday morning. I thought, yeah right, no way is that going to happen, but it did! The storm passed fast and far enough away that they reopened the airport early Thursday morning, and we went home after only a 2 night delay, less than 48 hours.
Later Monday afternoon Cathie discovered we could fly out of Orlando that night (or was it the next day?) if we wanted to drive over there, but then we decided that, despite being eager to return home, we'd stick around, ride out the storm with Mom and Sandra, help them get through it, clean up afterward, etc.
