So while at the cabin I wrestled with whether or not to continue west to Utah for 5 more nights. Afraid of medical and travel risks, etc. But finally decided what the heck, and went for it. Still didn't get up early enough Tuesday morning, and it took nearly 3 hours for all logistics, so I didn't leave until after 11 am.
I drove on around via Fairplay, learned that I-70 west was closed, continued north over Hoosier Pass through Breckenridge (more moose) to Frisco for lunch anyway (rather than the recommended detour through Buena Vista and Leadville), while it rained. I figured if nothing else, I'd enjoy the drive and turn east from Frisco. But eventually the highway opened, the backlog cleared, and I went west... Hitting two more big traffic jams that afternoon... It's just not like it was years ago. Because of that, I stopped at a cheap motel in Grand Junction for the night.
