Two days later, Dec 12, I went for a hike/wade at Brooker Creek Nature Preserve, nominally 4 miles round-trip. When I tried this last August it was brutally hot and humid, and both main trails were flooded beyond a certain point, so I had to abbreviate.

Well December is supposed to be the dry season, but I brought watershoes anyway, and before long I had to change into them, or give up again. About a mile of the loop was through swamp water up to knee deep! (Still only took < 3 hours.) Apparently they "got a lot of rain" last summer, and it takes a very long time to evaporate or percolate away.
