The next 2+ miles of Ypsilon trail were just an uphill slog in the woods... Lovely woods... With elk bugling down below nearby for much of it. But virtually no views of the mountains ahead.

Unfortunately a couple of hours into the hike, my left knee started to really complain a lot, more than in the past, slowing me down until I took a long break and one ibuprofen. After that it was great the rest of the day, go figure! But as a result my time for the first 3.9 miles and 2200' was around 3.5 hours.
