Maybe 40 years ago, someone clued me to this unmarked, direct but rocky, uphill ranger trail that bypasses Alberta Falls, switchbacks, and crowds. It was a fine way to trek for, it turned out, 35 min, mostly in peace and quiet. This is what the worst of it looked like -- not bad going uphill.
