After three tries and then a three hour wait, we finally got Mike the plumber back to do final trim. This took him five hours, during which I scrambled to deal with three immediate disasters, including crawling around behind the shower to move the backing block about 1/2" further east so the tap handles wouldn't be too far into the wall.

This required knocking out, cutting shorter, and reinstalling the two furring strip spacers.
