It took a long time to return to the project and make progress, but finally I finished "carding", cleaning, and weighing this mound of self-collected Colorado mountain goat fur from 40+ years of snagging it while hiking. In early summer the goats shed blobs of it against timberline evergreens.
In the bag on the left were rejected twigs and dirt, and next to it, less than half an ounce I'd already tried spinning with a homemade drop spindle -- with poor results -- this is difficult fur.
