It's gravel, so what? Well, this is everything that wouldn't fit through a fine sieve, from about a gallon of original prairie dark mud from about 5' underground in our front yard during water line replacement! I learned that dark mud usually indicates anaerobic, like swamp, deposition. The fine granitic gravel must have come down an ancient stream, but no idea how long ago.
