In early December, after Park County finally dropped the fire ban in place since early April, itching to get out and build a bonfire, I went alone to the cabin for two nights, cautious about the cold temperatures -- lows predicted to be in the teens, highs in the 40s. It wasn't too awful, and I was even (barely) able to drive in and out, after digging through the main road snowplow berm, through about 8" of soft powder.

It was quiet and lonely, with cold, dark, but starry nights.
