We asked the roofing company for advice (since the roof was only a couple of months old), they sent someone over, he had the brilliant idea to remove one soffit vent, and this was the view inside. It confirmed that the water was not entering below the shingles; the new underlayment was working. It was, however, going above the fascia board, below the roof sheathing. Note water visible left of center. "Why don't they seal up this joint?" No one does.
