Over the years, the square foot garden posts and rails (made from cut-down fencing parts) slowly lifted out several inches. Two years after redoing the back (west) garden, this spring I dug up and replanted the front rectangle. Not shown here, I bored holes through each post and stuck railroad spikes through them horizontally to keep them from drifting upward again.
