To make the work simpler and faster, I removed the chimney stays myself ahead of time (barely), sanded and triple-painted them while they were down, and reinstalled and sealed them myself the next morning before we headed home... Greatly relieved it was all done (except trash pickup and inspections and final payment) without having to extend our stay for more nights.
