Long wanting to drive over Casper Mountain (south of town), today we went that way into the city from Alcova. We detoured east and north quite a bit on steep gravel roads to crest over the forested top of the mountain, which was thick with visitors camping out on private land and setting up for the eclipse. I wouldn't want to be up there myself, too many trees to see into the distance.
Dropping down the north side toward Casper, I expected there might be a viewpoint as we left the trees, and sure enough there was. Casper is the dark green patch a bit to the right in the distance.
It was surreal knowing that the centerline of totality would pass through the south side of Casper (left to right) in just about 49 hours.
