I took Chris Brown camping and kayaking at the south end of Pathfinder Reservoir, Wyoming. In one very remote spot, we hiked up a hill looking for banded iron formation (BIF) beauties, and we found this excellent specimen.

It's a mixture of hematite, magnetite, and jasper that's 2-2.5 billion years old, compressed and folded by eons of mountain building. At home I sprayed it with acrylic gloss.
