First freeze of the season predicted for tonight... The winter squash vines aren't dead yet, but might as well harvest them now, the fruit are ready. What an amazing tally! Look what I grew this summer in a small patch of my back yard instead of bluegrass (and weeds).
Not counting the lone summer (yellow) squash, there are five kinds that I planted: acorn, banana, butternut, delicata, and spaghetti. Also tried kabocha last winter, saved the seeds, but didn't like it much, apparently didn't plant any of it. Plus there are a few crossbreeds in the pile.
The tomato and pepper plants still in the garden, plus more in Cathie's garden, got covered for the night, just in case...
